The idea behind this is that th e students learn to think on their feet by using their skills on essay writing in different contexts. Since so many of these essays are so similar, they learn from the same sources.Many of the persuasive essay topics for 4th graders these days are written in something called 'magazine-style.' In these types of essays, students use sentences and paragraphs that look like articles. Because the writers are always telling the reader something about themselves, they are easily persuasive. But because they tell the readers too much about themselves, they can't fit their arguments into any one type of essay.Students have to learn how to explain their ideas and then convince the reader that they're right. But since the people writing the essays are always telling the readers what they believe, they can't prove their points. They can't use any research at all to back up their claims. That's why they write like they do: they tell the reader too much about themselves.Another problem with persu asive essay topics for 4th graders is that they spend more time on the presentation of the claims than on making the claims true. They don't talk about whether their claims are true or not. Instead, they talk about how convincing they make their arguments, and that's the main thing they emphasize in the essay. The writer becomes too involved in the story that he or she begins to lose focus.Most of the students' learning isn't based on using information but on personal anecdotes. And, since the students are mostly from urban environments, they tend to use anecdotes to explain the inner workings of their lives. So it's hard for them to write about statistics and data. They also have little or no understanding of computers and the Internet.One of the biggest issues with persuasive essay topics for 4th graders is that the writers are too concerned with how well their arguments make them look. They try to convince the reader to think or feel a certain way, and not to think or feel a diff erent way. When they realize they've got no proof that they're right, they can't make a case.
